Windows 2000 Permissions Compatibility
Fixed in V5.1 and above.
Currently Available Version is 5.1c fixed
For Versions prior to 5.1:
Workaround 1:
Expired/invalid license
Workaround 2:
Browser based updates don't stick.
Or upgrade here.
Windows 2000 has a more restrictive access policy than previous
versions of Windows.
Both Registry settings and the NTFS file system are affected,
and two key IIS accounts do not have default read
permissions: IUSR_machineName and IWAM_machineName.
AuthentiX, WebQuota, AuthentiX ISP and WebQuota ISP Version 5.1 and above,
OCXMail and ocxQmail Version 2.7 and above, ASPSort Version 1.1 and above,
OCXHttp Version 1.4 and above
address this issue, and you should not experience problems
related to this new more restrictive access policy with these versions.
For existing products the following problems may occur when
using Flicks Software OCX components,
such as
AUTHXOCX.AuthXOCXCtrl.1,
AUTHXISP.AuthXOCXCtrl.1
used in browser based remote administration:
-
The software has expired, or has an invalid licence:
Because the software inspects the Registry to retrieve the
serial number, and the OCX components are running under IIS
(as IUSR_machineName and IWAM_machineName, which don't have general
read permission for the Registry), the software will not be able to read
the serial number and will assume it has expired or is invalid.
Use
Fix 1
to address this.
-
Adding users via remote administration does not update
the filter.
AuthentiX/WebQuota (Standard):
The configuration file authx.adb does not have write permission
for IUSR_machineName or IWAM_machineName so the remote administration
module cannot update it.
AuthentiX/WebQuota ISP:
The configuration files *.adb in the authxISPData directory
do not have write permission
for IUSR_machineName or IWAM_machineName so the remote administration
module cannot update it.
Use
Fix 2
to address this.
